The Texas Governor
- The Experiment
The Archenemy
Record Company is proud to announce the long-awaited release of
The Experiment, the second album from Dave Goolkasian,
aka Tone Source 1, aka The Texas Governor.
The Archenemy
Record Company has been holding these CDs hostage for more than
a year. Why? We're not sure why. Why did we go so long without updating
the site? What the hell HAPPENED in 2003 and 2004, anyway? We lost
track. But we know 2005 is gonna ROCK and this album is part of
the master plan. Soulful, brilliant, strangely optimistic and near
perfect alt-country/new-wave/pop, this is the shy yet brash love
child of Stephin Merrit and Ryan Adams. Or something like that.
Maybe it was the fear of writing release copy that kept this label
from doing anything for two years.
Maybe the band's
Myspace
Page says it best, what with their 451 friends and all (and
if all 451 of those people bought this album, Mr Governor and I
would be very happy):
...we've
been known to subconsciously sonically pay tribute to... all night
radio, beachwood sparks, beach boys, earlier bowie, built to spill,
the clean, broken social scene, the cars, elvis costello, flaming
lips, johnny cash, hank williams, modest mouse, neutral milk hotel,
olivia tremor control the rentals, magnetic fields, new pornographers,
buzzcocks, rilo kiley, the shins, simian, sonic youth, spent,
talking heads, ween, wheat, wilco, the who, shit maybe even warren
zevon and ironically... this boston band of yesteryear, but not
too long ago - The Elevator Drops.... and ??
